Charming stay with helpful staff
Woke up to a delicious breakfast each morning, with a good selection of fresh fruits, pastries, and pancakes. The staff at the front desk were really nice, happily assisting us with directions and recommendations for nearby attractions.
Unfortunately, our bathroom amenities left much to be desired, as the shower didn't consistently deliver hot water .

The location was excellent and stunning in the very posh area. All the staff was helpful and cooperative, tackled my issues...

The location was perfect and exceptionally nice as it was not far from cafes and restaurants. The room was good-sized with a balcony, WiFi, for instance, truly enjoyed our time there. The breakfast had a wide array of savoury food and drinks.

Nice hotel with beautiful Arabic decor, but the breakfast variety could use improvement. Enjoyed exploring nearby art galleries.

No fuss hotel
The hotel is quite 'functional' with no real sparkle

Hotel Akabar is a clean comfortable hotel, located right next to luxury international hotels costing 2/3 times more.
Wifi was intermittent. Front office staff seemed uninterested in their customers.

beautiful painted ceiling, quiet rooms, traditional Moroccan decor
The shower barely worked!!! Management should address the old bathroom fixtures, and kettles in rooms would be a welcome addition!!! More breakfast options could improve the morning experience. The lack of a hair dryer is a basic oversight!!!

Nothing. Staff off-hand. Like walking into a darkened tomb. Room was freezing cold. No a/c working. Breakfast choice was dreadful. I expected more for my 36Euros for one night.
Staff off-hand. Like walking into a darkened tomb. Room was freezing cold. No a/c working. Breakfast choice was dreadful. I expected more for the 36 Euros I paid for one night. When I asked reception to organise a grande taxi for myself to Ouarzazate I was quoted 1,000Dh (£80). I took a petite taxi to the grand taxi rank and had a grande taxi from Marrakech to Ouarzazate for 600Dh!!

The bar and the friendliness of the staff who were very nice and welcoming. I very much felt at home there like with family!
The pillows though that was the same with every other hotels I stayed in!

Mixed Experience with Room for Improvement
My stay lasted three nights in a Double or Twin Room. Although the location was ideal, the room had lingering cigarette smells while the bed wasn't made upon arrival. Breakfast lacked variety, but the friendly staff at breakfast brightened my mornings. Consider asking for a non-smoking room.

I liked the hospitality of staffs at the reception, and the cleanliness of the room.
I did not like the behavior/gesture/attitude of the lady staffs at the restaurant serving the breakfast.

Loved the traditional Moroccan decor and friendly staff.

Absolutely ridiculous stay, the shower was a constant experiment with hot water, which never worked correctly. I would have thought a luxurious hotel would allow snacks, but apparently, that's a no-no here. I was appalled by the lack of a room upgrade-totally unacceptable for such a supposedly elegant hotel.

The room featured gorgeous traditional Moroccan decor and a fine painted ceiling that adds character. The bar area offered drinks at reasonable prices, a plus in a city where you can easily get fleeced.
The air conditioning struggled to keep up in August, breaking down and leading to a frustrating room change. The breakfast lacked quality-cold options and limited variety made it routine rather than enjoyable. The bathroom needed immediate attention, with toilets and showers showing signs of neglect due to poor maintenance, and no hot water at times was quite the hassle. Plus, the noise from the street made restful sleep a challenge at night.

I really enjoyed my stay, especially the comfy room and the good breakfast options, although the photos were misleading about the decor. I'd choose it again for a budget trip!
